The Planning Department has the following core functions:
 
Long-range planning: Creating and periodically updating the Town’s Comprehensive Plan.
Current planning: Administering the development project review process in collaboration with the Town’s volunteer Planning Board.
Ordinance creation and maintenance: Maintenance and creation of land use and related regulations in order to guide desired forms of development.
Policy/data analysis: Providing decision-makers with quality information and analysis of alternative policy solutions, utilizing available data.
Economic development: Protecting the Town’s tax base to support municipal services by attracting investment.
Resource protection: Protecting the natural environment and promoting excellence in the design of the built environment.
Community outreach: Facilitating meaningful community engagement in regards to the above.
Collaboration: Collaborating with community, state, and regional partners.

Tuesday/Thursday: 8am-4pm
